At Oceanside we would like to help clients that are trying to seek further supports reach their goals. One of our biggest missions is never to leave a participant behind. Regardless of funding, we are happy to offer support and advice to those who need it, and if we can't help, we promise to help you find someone that can. With connections to some of the finest Allied Health practitioners in the Hunter Valley, we endeavour to do our very best to help anyone that requires it.

At Oceanside Connect we have your rights and safety at heart

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), 75% of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and non-heterosexual Australians have experienced a mental illness at some point in their lives. Non-binary Australians face mental health issues at more than twice the rate of cisgender individuals. The ABS report highlights significant disparities, with nearly half of LGB+ Australians reporting high levels of psychological distress and almost 48% having seriously considered suicide. The rate of self-harm among LGB+ individuals is nearly six times higher than that of heterosexual people.

Call to Action

Advocacy groups and researchers are calling for an urgent response to address these alarming mental health statistics within the queer community.
